Sunny and happy with a touch of daintiness, yellow freesias are easily one of our most popular blooms. Native to South Africa, the freesia yellow flower was named in honor of Friedrich H.T. Freese, by his close friend and Danish botanist, Christian P. Ecklon. Loved for its delicate beauty and lovely fragrance, the yellow freesia can be found filling the bouquets of brides and bridesmaids, on the lapels of groomsmen and on the tables of wedding venues. In the language of flowers, they represent friendship, thoughtfulness, sweetness, innocence, and trust.

As many as eight funnel-shaped freesia flowers form a loose cluster at the top of each slightly branched stem. This versatile bloom can be found in an endless array of floral designs. When looking to the color wheel for inspiration, yellow and purple are two complementary colors. Pair yellow freesias with an assortment of your favorite light and dark purple flowers. They also look striking when grouped with white for a more subdued palette. For a monochromatic display, bunch them together with other yellow flowers.

Suggestions: Freesia blooms take a little longer to bloom and sometimes the multiple blooms do not bloom simultaneously. We recommend giving them a fresh cut as soon as you receive them, adding a small amount of flower food to warm water, and allowing them to rehydrate in indirect sunlight for a couple hours. After a few hours in sun, move Freesia stems to a cool environment and keep them in cool water until you are ready to use them for your DIY event!
