How to Hydrate Dahlias
When receiving dahlias customers tend to be alarmed by their condition upon arrival. Dahlias do tend to look pretty stressed after being shipped. The good news is that they perk up beautifully with proper hydration.
- As soon as you get your dahlias, un-package them by removing them from the Kraft paper.
- Cut the dahlia stems under running warm water and place them in a bucket with a few inches of hot water, let them sit overnight.
- Store them in a cool location out of di rect sunlight/hot or cold draft. The dahlias will dramatically perk up.
- Once you notice that their stems are strong/ stiff the blooms will be open quickly and will be ready for use.
